Nudo de rutas comerciales, la Revolución Industrial ha expandido y transformado la estructura de la ciudad, haciendo de ella uno de los lugares más poblados del mundo conocido.

Sin embargo, la prosperidad y la riqueza de la metrópolis se nutre de la explotación. El nuevo proletariado se encuentra subyagado bajo un gobierno que apoya la industrialización, en el que el puño de la burguesía se apoya para perpetuar la situación.
